A. Safety Precautions

WARNING:        OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.

(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001.

(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator’s instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

(1) Refuel each of the wing tanks to a minimum of 1500 kg (3306.9 lb) Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003. Make sure that the wing tank outer cells are full of fuel.

4. Procedure

SUBTASK 28-15-00-740-050-C

A. BITE Test

(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002.

(2) Reset the FQIC as follows:

(a) On the panels 49VU and 121VU:

— open the circuit breakers 1QT and 2QT for a minimum of 10 seconds.

(b) On the panels 49VU and 121VU:

— close the circuit breakers 1QT and 2QT.

(3) Do the test that follows:

NOTE:   When you push (in) the line key adjacent to FUEL> indication, the Multipurpose Control and Display Unit (MCDU) can initially show CH1 or CH2. In this case, the test starts with CH1. CH2 will only show first if CH1 has a failure.

NOTE:   The subsequent results are only available after one minute from the time that you energized the Fuel Quantity Indication Computer (FQIC).

3.Push (in) the line key adjacent to <FLSS STATUS indication.-For CH1, the MCDU shows:NO FAULTS
4.Push (in) the line key adjacent to <RETURN indication.-The MCDU shows the second CH1 FUEL menu.
5.Push (in) the NEXT PAGE button on the MCDU.-The MCDU shows the first CH1 FUEL menu.
6.Push (in) the line key <RETURN frequently until the CFDS menu page is shown.

A. Aircraft Configuration

(1) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003, Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001 or Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001.

(2) On the refuel/defuel control panel 800VU:

— make sure that the MODE SEL switch is in the OFF and guarded position.

(3) Close the refuel/defuel control panel door.

(4) Do the EIS stop procedure Ref. AMM TASK 31-60-00-860-002.

(5) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002.

B. Removal of Equipment

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

(2) Remove the safety barriers.

(3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.

All instructions and limitations given in those documents that relate to the resetting of systems both on the ground and in the air must be respected. No reset should be attempted without a thorough appreciation of the technical ramifications. No more than one computer should be reset at any one time. No reset should be attempted in flight unless specifically permitted by the QRH. Maintenance messages remaining after a reset require engineering investigation.
